Mahindra KUV100 will have a competition later this year in the form of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis which is due for launch in Diwali. The India-bound model that was showcased at the recently concluded Auto Expo event bears a lot of similarities to the one that is available in the Japanese market.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be offered in petrol as well as diesel engine options with the petrol trim getting a 1.2-litre K12B engine. The petrol variant will come mated to a five-speed manual and an optional CVT transmission. The diesel variant of Maruti Ignis will be powered a 1.3-litre DDiS engine that will be mated a to five-speed manual transmission.
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ignis measures about 1,660mm width, 3,700mm in length and 1,595mm in height. Additionally, the Ignis also boasts of offering impressive ground clearance figures of about 180mm. As the Ignis will be offered via the premium Nexa dealerships, it is sure that the Ignis will also offer standard safety features like ABS with EBD and driver and passenger airbags system. Moreover, we can expect the Ignis to be exported from India as it is based on the Baleno hatchback platform that is currently exported to over 100 countries
Expected to be priced around Rs 4.5 - 6.5 lakh, this could be the most affordable car being rolled out from Nexa outlets. More details on the features that could be specially offered for Indian market will be known in the coming days.
