Maruti Suzuki adds a new feather on its cap with one lakh Ignis sales milestone in India. The second premium hatchback from Nexa in India was launched in January 2017. Currently, the company sells around 3000 units of the Ignis every month in India. Maruti Suzuki introduced an updated version of the Ignis in February.
The new Maruti Suzuki Ignis is available with a 1.2-litre K12 petrol engine that generates 83bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 113Nm at 4200rpm. The engine is comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and an optional five-speed AMT unit. The diesel engine option was discontinued in June 2018 due to low sales. As for features, the updated version was introduced with minor exterior upgrades and for the first time, offered roof-rails on the Zeta and the Alpha variants.Â
In terms of safety, the new model dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt pre-tensioners with force limiters and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Additionally, the hatchback also gets reverse parking sensors, co-driver seat belt reminder and the high-speed alert as standard.
