The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki unveiled the Ignis, the hatchback crossover at the 2016 Auto Expo event in the country. Recently, booking for the vehicle commenced with a token amount of Rs 11,000 and it will be sold via Maruti’s premium Nexa outlets in the country. Ahead of its official launch in the country tomorrow, below mentioned are the four USPs that will click.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis gets an upright design that offers it an SUV-like stance. The front features halogen reflector headlamps that sit nearly within the extended grille frame. The prominent big wheel arches gives it a muscular stance. Overall, the vehicle does not look overly done and has just the right amount of curves in proportions. The rear section gets a retro-styled design element for elegance, while the roof rails renders it a micro-SUV feel. The prominent and bold bumpers complete its overall aesthetics.
The Ignis from Maruti Suzuki will be available in four variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. As seen in Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki will be offering an array of customisation options for the Ignis. Customers might be allowed to opt for contrast roof colour in the top-spec Alpha variant. On the lines of the iCreate personalisation feature from Maruti Suzuki, customers can opt for stylish body decals, signature upholstery, redesigned bumpers and skirts, grille inserts, stylish alloy wheels, outside rear view mirror design, boot accessories and more for the Ignis. Potential customers can opt for them at slightly additional cost and reflect their personality.
In addition, to regular customers the Ignis will also draw a large number of young buyers in the country. Sporty and muscular design along with a range of customisation options makes it a lucrative option in its segment. Under the hood, the vehicle will be offered with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine options. Though petrol is offered across all variants, barring the Sigma (base) variant the other three will be offered with a 1.3-litre diesel engine. Along with five-speed manual transmission, the vehicle is also expected to be offered with an AMT unit. Based on Nexa’s protocol, the Ignis will also get standard safety equipment such as front airbags and ABS with EBD.
The Ignis will also gain benefit from Maruti Suzuki’s long standing reputation and trust among customers. Moreover, its largest service network and the premium Nexa feel associated with the new model will only strengthen a potential customer’s decision to opt for the new model. Post launch the vehicle will compete against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Mahindra KUV100. Maruti Suzuki will reveal the variant-wise price list tomorrow during the launch. Based on assumption, we believe that the upcoming vehicle might be priced between Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
