Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback, the Baleno and the recently launched Vitara Brezza compact SUV have been a considerable contributor to India’s largest automaker’s sales. Citing segment wise demand, forex movements and strategic objectives of the company, prices for the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza have been hiked by up to Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 respectively. The prices for other models from the company’s lineup have also been hiked between Rs 1,500 – Rs 5,000.
The price revision across models is effective from August 1, 2016. Post revision, the Vitara Brezza which was once priced between Rs 6.99 lakh – Rs 9.68 lakh is now priced between Rs 7.19 lakh - 9.88 lakh. The Baleno prices has now been revised between Rs 5.25 lakh - Rs 8.36 lakh as against the older pricing of Rs 5.15 - Rs 8.33 lakh (All prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
Speaking about the utility vehicle segment, the Vitara Brezza has been a considerable contributor to the company’s sales in the country. In July alone the automaker witnessed 151.3 per cent growth in India with 125,778 units sold in comparison to the same period last year. Apart from this, the Baleno has also been a popular seller in the country, and both the models depending on their variants, have been attracting a waiting period of about six to nine months. The Baleno 1.0-litre variant which is expected to be launched soon, will further boost overall sales numbers for the carmaker.
