A camouflaged Maruti Suzuki hatchback has been spotted testing in North India. The car appears to borrow a lot from the Celerio hatchback in terms of overall design in a bid to give the Japanese automaker’s small cars a new family face.
There appears to be a great deal of speculation as to what the engine will be for this hatchback and we believe that it will be the 1.0-litre unit as this seems to be trend and direction that manufacturers are heading to in the next few years with regard to compact hatchbacks. The camouflage is too heavy to be able to glean any more details of the car but we believe that it will almost certainly look similar to the Celerio.
However, we also believe that which car this turns out to be- the facelifted Alto K10 or a facelifted version of the Alto 800- they will share much in common with the other two models in a bid to keep the family appearance and more importantly keep costs down.
The facelifted Alto K10 which it is unlikely to be called in the future will get a five-speed manual and the 800cc diesel engine while the Alto 800-which is expected to retain its name- will continue to be offered with the 800c petrol mill and the new 800cc diesel engine.
We expect that one of these cars will be launched during the festive season while the other one will follow a few months later.
