-Maruti Suzuki has commenced the supply of Baleno to Toyota in April.
-In the previous month, 364 units of the Glanza is already shipped to Toyota.
- The official launch is expected to happen next month.
With the sales figures of April, Maruti Suzuki has revealed that they have commenced the supply of a “compact class” car to other OEM. These 364 units already shipped are of the Baleno which has been rebadged as Glanza by Toyota. These early supplied models are likely to be the display and test units.
Although Toyota hasn’t revealed the official image of the Glanza, the carmaker has teased a single image of the upcoming model. We have already seen undisguised images of the Glanza (in the mid-level V trim) which surfaced online a few days ago - which identically matches our very own digital rendering as well. Apart from the Toyota-badged revised grille, the Glanza more or less retains the silhouette of the recently facelifted Baleno. Toyota has teased the right rear of the car and we can see that Toyota has used the same wheels as Maruti Suzuki.
We expect the cabin to be borrowed from the Baleno more or less unchanged. Under the hood, Toyota Glanza will make use of the same 1.2-litre petrol BS-VI compliant motor that generates 83bhp and 113Nm. It will be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox with an optional CVT transmission. It is speculated to be available in two trim levels.
The Glanza will mark Toyota’s entry into the premium B-segment where it will take on the likes of the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and of course the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. More details of the new Toyota Glanza will be revealed soon, so stay tuned to CarWale.
