If you are expecting a sportier version of the recently launched Dzire to be introduced soon, then there’s bad news for you. Maruti Suzuki has no plans to introduce the 1.0-litre 102bhp motor in its new compact sedan.
Sure, the new Dzire is based on the Baleno platform and the Baleno RS gets the 1.0-litre engine. So it seems like a natural thing to expect a powerful Dzire version. But as per the company officials, Indian buyers don’t expect a sporty driving experience from a sedan. They would rather lookout for a sportier hatchback. While this confirms Maruti’s intention of not getting the sportier Dzire, it is also an indication that the new Swift might be launched with the Boosterjet motor. The Gurgaon-based manufacturer may use the Swift RS naming conversion if the sportier hatchback is launched.
Interestingly, the Dzire could also get an RS moniker, but with a few cosmetic updates, just like the Ciaz. But this would take some time, possibly when the sales for the Dzire drops down, which we think would take at least a year or so.
