Waiting period for Maruti Suzuki cars is further expected to come down as the company is slated to receive 2.5 lakh units in 2018-19 from the Suzuki facility in Gujarat. Maruti Suzuki will receive around 1.5 lakh units from the Gujarat facility in this fiscal year ending on 31 March. The facility is working in A and B shifts in 2018-19 which will help them achieve numbers for the whole year.
The increase in production at the Gujarat facility will see reduction in waiting period for popular models such as the Baleno and the compact SUV Vitara Brezza. Speaking about the Gujarat facility, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “At one point of time, Baleno used to have a waiting period of around 6-8 months. Now it has come down to about 8-10 weeks. So to that extent it has helped us.”
Maruti Suzuki will be launching the third-generation Swift next month which will be produced from the Gujarat facility and the company expects over 15,000 units a month which was once witnessed by the old version. The recently launched Dzire has also received a robust response from the Indian market and has emerged as the second best-selling model after Alto in December.
