- Claimed to return 22.89kmpl
- AMT version starts at Rs. 8.82 lakh
Maruti Suzuki Fronx has been on sale for more than a year now and has had excellent sales performance since its launch. The Baleno-based crossover is currently available at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.51 lakh across six variants. In March this year, we did a real-world fuel efficiency test of the turbo manual version of the Fronx. Now, it was time to put the AMT version of the crossover under the real-world fuel efficiency test.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx AMT can only be had with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine with a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 8.82 lakh for the Delta version. This motor is capable of generating 89bhp and 113Nm of peak torque. As for the claimed fuel efficiency figures, the five-speed AMT version of the Fronx is rated to deliver an ARAI-certified mileage of 22.89kmpl.
In our tests, we follow a standard practice across all the models that we evaluate. Firstly, the AC temperature is set to 23 degrees with a fan speed of one or two. Moreover, considering the variant we tested had the idle start/stop function, it was set to default, which is on.
In the city, we covered a distance of 78.6km with 6.62 litres of fuel consumption. The MID was indicating a mileage of 14kmpl. However, when calculated the real-world figures came out to be 11.8kmpl.
Meanwhile, on the highway, the Fronx AMT logged 91.7km with a fuel consumption of 5.04 litres. While the MID displayed 14.9kmpl, the actual figures turned out to be 18.1kmpl. As for the combined fuel efficiency, the Fronx AMT managed to extract 13.37kmpl, which is just 58 per cent of the claimed fuel efficiency.
