- Registers 8,955 units in March.
- MPV segment grew 12 per cent YoY (year on year).
- Ertiga will soon get a new 1.5L diesel motor.
Maruti Suzuki’s new-generation Ertiga has recorded sales of 8,955 units in March 2019. It is the highest ever sales registered by the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in its entire product lifecycle. The Ertiga has outclassed every other MPV in the market, including Mahindra Marazzo, Toyota Innova Crysta and the Mahindra Bolero.
While Bolero and Innova Crysta sold 8,019 and 6,984 units respectively, Marazzo could only manage sales of 2,751 units in March. The MPV segment registered a YoY growth of 12 per cent as compared to the same period last year, and a significant chunk of that came from the new Ertiga. The Ertiga and Marazzo have successfully revived the MPV segment, which was earlier ruled by the Innova Crysta.
Maruti Suzuki is readying a new in-house developed 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel motor, which was recently introduced in the Ciaz. For now, the Ertiga is available with a 1.5-litre petrol motor and the tried and tested 1.3-litre diesel engine. Both powertrains come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol engine can also be had with a 4-speed torque converter automatic.
