India's largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki introduced the new Ertiga in India in November 2018. The new-generation Ertiga further deepened interest in the already popular brand in the segment. Interestingly, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has reported a 139 per cent growth in sales with 8,391 units sold in August 2019 as compared to 3,515 units sold in the same period in the year 2018. It is worth noting that the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the only model in the MUV segment to witness a positive sales growth last month. Â
Late in July 2019, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga received a BS-VI emission compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 105bhp and 138 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard while it can also be had with an optional four-speed automatic transmission. The company recently replaced the 1.3-litre diesel engine with a new 1.5-litre engine that produces 94bhp at 4,000 rpm and 225Nm between 1,500-2,500 rpm. This engine is available only with a six-speed manual transmission.Â
Speaking of its success, Maruti Suzuki has sold around 70,000 units of the Ertiga since its launch in November 2018. The Ertiga is the sixth model after the WagonR, Swift, Alto, Dzire, and Baleno to receive the BS-VI update.
