The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, one of the top three selling models for the Indo-Japanese automaker, has dropped by 4717 units in the month of June 2013 as compared to May 2013 where they were able to sell 17256 units. Is this effect of the Ford EcoSport and its rather incredible price that has taken the Indian automotive world by storm? We would like to think to yes and this effect does not seem to be limited to the Dzire alone.
The Mahindra XUV500 and the Renault Duster both chief rivals of the Ford EcoSport have seen a tumble in number albeit in much smaller proportions; the XUV500 has dropped by 767 units (2144 units in May to 1377 units) while the Duster has dropped by 623 units (5146 units in May as compared to 4523 units in June).
The Ford EcoSport itself has amassed 4002 bookings but this number is believed to be much higher as we had revealed to you yesterday that the American automaker is currently sitting on a 6000 bookings waiting list for the diesel engined EcoSport alone.
