Maruti Suzuki recently announced that they will be offering dual airbags and ABS as an option in all variants of the Dzire. Soon you will be able to tick the option box for an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) as well. This production-ready test drive vehicle was spotted at a dealership yard.
The Dzire has been a huge success for Maruti Suzuki, they crossed the one million sales mark in July 2015 and have been selling strong ever since. On the outside, the car will remain unchanged except for the additional AMT badging on the boot-lid. The inside will feature the AMT gearshift unit with a beige gear knob to complement the beige interior.
The AMT unit will be sourced from Magneti Marelli, besides that it will use the same Fiat sourced, 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder engine that develops 74bhp at 4,000rpm and 190Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. The higher ZDi is the only variant that will likely feature the AMT. The Dzire AMT will only rival the Tata Zest, being the only two diesel automatics in the compact sedan category.
