Despite the launch of its A-Star and after offering discounts on its various models, Maruti Suzuki saw a dip in its sales by 10% in December 2008. The company managed to sell 56,293 units this December (which includes 4,264 units which were exported) as compared to 62,515 vehicles it sold in December’07.
The A1 segment (M800), the C segment (Omni, Versa) and the A2 segment (A Star, Wagon R, Zen Estilo, Swift) saw a fall in sales by 59.6%, 33.4% and 6.9% respectively. The sales figures for the A3 segment (Esteem, DZire, SX4) and the MUV segment (Gypsy, Grand Vitara) grew up 98.2% and 34.1% respectively. The domestic sales shrink by 10.6%, while the exports grew by 3.6%.
