Just after the first quarter of the year 2017, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was moved to the manufacturer’s premium dealership the NEXA. The flagship sedan did not receive a remarkable upgrade apart from the addition of a new colour and new trim levels when it moved to NEXA. But recent images which have surfaced on the internet hint at a possible midlife update to the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Spied images of the test mule Ciaz hint that the updates are cosmetic. An addition of the DRLs is highly anticipated in the update. The bumpers are expected to be re-styled with a dash of chrome for a more premium look. The updates could make its way into the cabin as well. Rumours have it that the new Ciaz will get the larger MID as seen in the Maruti Suzuki Baleno along with rain sensing wipers.
The test mule which was spotted was an automatic variant though it is unlikely the new Ciaz will go under any mechanical upgrade. The new car will have a drivetrain similar to that of the outgoing Ciaz. The current 1.4-litre K14B petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS200 diesel engines will be carried forward unchanged.
This update could be Maruti Suzuki’s attempt to give the Ciaz a breath of fresh air. The manufacturers are expected to reveal the new Ciaz by the festive season. When launched, the updated Ciaz will continue to compete against the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid.
