Maruti Suzuki’s new mid-size premium sedan, the Ciaz, will be launched in India on October 6. This car was unveiled at the Auto Expo in February this year and will be the SX4 replacement.
The Ciaz is Maruti Suzuki's new C-segment sedan competitor that borrows design cues from the Suzuki Authentics concept that was displayed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The trapezoidal grille is seen at the front with an aggressive fascia. The crease lines flow smoothly to the back of the car. This new sedan is expected to change a lot of things that its predecessor, the SX4 could not offer. The top-end variants of the Ciaz will feature projector headlamps and 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
The cabin of the car is expected to be packed with a whole load of new features like an engine starter button, multi-function steering wheel, AC with climate control, rear AC vents, ABS, EBD and dual airbags. The vehicle will get an infotainment system with bluetooth, steering mounted audio controls, cooled glove box etc.
The petrol variant of the Ciaz will be powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series four-cylinder engine producing 93.6bhp of power and 130Nm of torque, while the oil-burner may get the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet engine that churns out 88.73bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The diesel mill might come mated to a five-speed manual transmission and the petrol model might be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT transmission.
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh and it will be available in four variants- V, V+, Z and Z+. The Ciaz will compete with the Honda City, Renault Scala, VW Vento and the Hyundai Verna from the C-Segment of cars in the Indian market.
Maruti Suzuki started pre-launch bookings for both, petrol as well as diesel variants of the Ciaz this month. The bookings are on at 1,370 showrooms spread across 1,050 cities in India. Prospective customers can get their Ciaz booked for an advanced amount of Rs 21,000.
