The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be launched for the Indian market on October 6 and ahead of what is undoubtedly one of the biggest launches of the year, the specifications and variants have been revealed. The car will be made available in six petrol, four diesel variants as well as seven colour options.
First things first, the Ciaz will be offered with the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol that produces 94bhp and 130Nm of torque while the oil burner is the 1.3-litre Multijet unit that produces 90bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both engines are being offered with a five-speed manual. A four-speed AT is being offered with the VXi and ZXi variants only.
The petrol variants get the standard Maruti Suzuki nomenclature with the addition of a new variant-VXi, VXi+, ZXi, ZXi+, VXi AT and ZXi AT. It is the same for the diesel too - VDi, VDi+, ZDi and ZDi+.
The base VXi/VDi variants get:
- Projector headlamps,
- Electric boot opening,
- Glass antenna and
- Electrically adjustable OVRMs with integrated indicators.

The ZXi/ZDi variants, in addition to the features of the VXi+/VDi+ variants get:

- Electric folding for the OVRMs
- Rear camera
- Individual reading lamps
- Chrome door handles

The ZXi+/ZDi+ variants, in addition to the features of the ZXi/ZDi variants get:

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is a very important car for the Indo-Japanese automaker as it is their third attempt to break into the C-segment and move their image beyond A-segment, B-segment hatchback and compact sedans. Their previous two attempts with the Baleno and the SX4 did not yield the results they wanted and it looks like they have left no stone unturned this time around.
This new sedan will compete with the VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, Nissan Sunny, Ford Fiesta, Renault Scala and the Fiat Linea. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7.25 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh.
