Excise duty on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz diesel has been brought down to 12.5 percent from 24 per cent under the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP). The near-50 per cent reduction in excise duty on mid-size sedan has resulted in bringing down the car prices by a considerable margin.
The Ciaz SHVS ex-showroom prices have dropped in the range of Rs 55,000 – Rs 69,000 depending on the variants. The Ciaz VDi now carries a price tag of Rs 7.68 lakh, while the top-end ZDi+ costs Rs 9.49 lakh.
Under the hood, the Ciaz SHVS diesel is powered by a 1.3-liter DDiS engine which puts out 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The diesel engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The SHVS technology in the Ciaz combines integrated starter generator, brake energy recovery system and an auto start-stop system to increase fuel efficiency. As per ARAI rating, the Ciaz SHVS claims to return a fuel efficiency of 28.09 kmpl. However, the prices for the petrol variants have not been reduced and it remains the same.
