Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has emerged as the bestselling mid-size sedan in the country for the third consecutive year. With over 46,000 units sold in FY2018-19, the Ciaz has captured a 30 per cent market share in its segment. Maruti Suzuki has sold more than 2.56 lakh units of the Ciaz, since its launch in 2014. The Ciaz has been a consistent performer for Maruti Suzuki and has outsold the Honda City and Hyundai Verna in March sales.
Commenting on the success of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, R.S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Sales & Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Ciaz has witnessed a resounding success in the highly competitive premium sedan segment. With a staggering 30% market share in 2018-19, Ciaz has been a preferred choice for the aspirational and evolving consumers who have the drive to excel. It is a testimony of them liking new technologies and features offered by us, and we are thankful to our customers for their confidence and choice that reinforces our commitment to bring newer, advanced and greener technologies in India.”
Maruti Suzuki debuted its new 1.5-litre petrol motor with the launch of the Ciaz facelift in August 2018. The engine makes 103.5 bhp and 138 Nm and comes equipped with a mild hybrid system with a dual battery setup. More recently in March, the company introduced the all-new in-house developed 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel engine on the Ciaz, which churns out 94 bhp and 225 Nm. It is available with a new six-speed manual transmission. The Ciaz can also be had with the ubiquitous 1.3-litre diesel mill. However, this motor will be discontinued closer to the BS-VI transition.
