The Ciaz made its debut at the Auto Expo in India last year and is enjoying a good demand in our country. Now, Maruti Suzuki has launched the sedan in Nepal through CG Motocorp, its authorised dealer there. The car's prices start at NPR 3.29 million which comes to around Rs 20.5 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the new C-segment sedan competitor that is expected to capture more than 20 per cent of the sedan market in Nepal this year. It borrows design cues from the Suzuki Authentics concept that was displayed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The aggressive fascia sports a trapezoidal grille, while the crease lines flow smoothly to the back of the car, which is laden with plenty of chrome.
The manufacturer has thrown in a whole load of new features in the cabin of the Ciaz that including an infotainment system with bluetooth, AC with climate control, cooled glove box, steering mounted audio controls, ABS, EBD etc. On the safety front, the company has offered dual front airbags as standard.
The Ciaz is available in both petrol and diesel variants in Nepal. This means the petrol variant powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series four-cylinder engine producing 93.6bhp of power and 130Nm of torque will be offered. On the diesel front, the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet engine that churns out 88.73bhp of power and 200Nm of torque will be made available. The transmission options include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox for the petrol variants, but only the five-speed manual gearbox for the diesel model.
The Ciaz is the SX4 replacement in India and rivals the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Maruti Suzuki also plans to export the sedan to overseas markets including the Middle East and Latin America. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz's first export market was Algeria where it entered last month, and if latest reports are to be believed, the sedan might also be launched in Indonesia soon.
