- The Ciaz facelift will get a new frontal design, new engine option and additional features.
Maruti Suzuki is readying the new and updated Ciaz since the beginning of this year. The mid-life update of the C-segment sedan is expected to arrive in a couple of months’ time possibly around the festive season. Ahead of that, the carmaker has teased the refreshed sedan in a Nexa’s promotional video on Twitter.
This is the first major update for the Ciaz since 2014. The sedan has been spotted testing in the country on many occasions already. The refreshed Ciaz will arrive with cosmetic updates to the grille and headlamps. There are projector headlamps seen in the teaser along horizontal LED DRL in the lower section. The newly designed grille will supposedly make the sedan look more upmarket. The rear bumper might also get little tweaks to keep the overall design fresh for another few years.
In terms of interior, we expect a new touchscreen and a revamped cabin layout in order to keep up with the competition. The most significant change will be under the skin. The Ciaz will be powered by a new 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. This engine has already debuted in the next-gen Indonesia spec Ertiga and is expected to be offered on the Ciaz as well as the S-Cross. This new engine will and replace the current 1.4-litre unit and it should produce around 104bhp/138Nm and will come paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard. There are rumours that the new petrol motor is likely to get Maruti’s mild-hybrid system as well. The oil burner would be the tried and tested 1.3-litre DDiS unit with 89bhp/200Nm.
When launched in India, the Ciaz will continue its fray with the other C-segment sedans like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Volkswagen Vento. More details will be revealed closer to its launch. Keep watching this space for more information on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift.
