The demand for butch-looking SUVs and crossovers has taken an upturn in the Indian market. Even the entry-level cars want to look like a pseudo SUV and the CelerioX is Maruti Suzuki's answer to this rising demand. The carmaker has recently launched it in four variants with the choice of a manual or an automatic gearbox, with prices starting at Rs 4.57 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Take a look at its pictures.
The new CelerioX based on the Celerio hatchback is a little bigger in its dimensions as against the standard car. It's not only longer, but wider than the regular Celerio as well.
Changed dimensions show that the length is 3,715mm, width is 1,635mm and height is 1,565mm. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,425mm, while the ground clearance is 165mm.
The CelerioX sports a dual-tone exterior theme with new front and rear bumpers. The fascia sports a black grille flanked by smoked headlamps, while the front bumper houses circular fog lamps too.
The black treatment can be seen as one moves to the sides. There are black ORVM housings, black wheel arches, door sills and eve black body cladding.
The car now rides on six-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss black, while the B-pillar, door handles and roof rails are also finished in black.
Maruti Suzuki has added a new black bumper with a silver scuff plate and integrated reflectors. This gives the car a jacked-up look as compared to the regular Celerio.
There's also a small roof spoiler, while the carmaker has used the same tail lamps from the standard Celerio. No changes on that front.
Inside, the CelerioX gets all-black interiors with white accents and patterned seats with orange highlights. They gel with the sporty look of the car and give the interior a dose of freshness.
Driver-side airbag and driver side seat belt reminder are standard features on every trim. Meanwhile, passenger side airbag and ABS are also available as an option across all the variants.
The other standard equipment and features from the Celerio remain the same. The car continues to get a 235-litre boot and a 35-litre fuel tank.
On the powertrain front, the CelerioX comes powered by the same 998cc, three-cylinder petrol mill from the standard Celerio hatchback.
The petrol unit produces 67bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 90Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. It comes mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed AMT.
The CelerioX can be had in five exterior colour options – solid paprika orange, caffeine brown, torque blue, glistening grey and arctic white.
