The country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has been silently working on introducing the Celerio X in India. Although no official launch date has been put out by the company, the vehicle was recently spotted during a commercial shoot and we believe that it might be introduced during the festive season. Changes in the crossover-styled version of the Celerio will be limited to cosmetic detailing while mechanically, it will continue to be powered in the existing engine options.
Based on what was seen, the new Celerio X will feature black alloy wheels, black body cladding and faux skid plates. Inside, it might get the X-signature upholstery to add that sporty element along with a SmartPlay infotainment system. The new Celerio X will be available in VXi, VXi(O), ZXi and ZXi(O) variants in both manual and AMT transmission options. Although the price remains unannounced for now, we believe it might cost an additional Rs 15,000-Rs 20,000 over the regular Celerio variants.
Under the hood, the Maruti Celerio X is expected to continue being powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder K10B petrol engine that generates 67bhp of power at 6000rpm and 90Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual and AMT transmission options. More details about the Celerio X will be known in the days to come.
