Maruti Suzuki is scheduled to shortly launch a cross version of its Celerio hatchback called the Celerio X, but ahead of its debut, the brochure has been leaked. This pseudo SUV design vehicle will be offered in eight variants and across five colour options. This vehicle stands out from the regular recently launched facelifted Celerio hatchback thanks to the cladding, different wheels and X badging at the rear.
It is unchanged in terms of features when compared to the standard Celerio and everything else stays the same, variant for variant when compared to the standard Celerio. The top spec Celerio X gets a 1-DIN music system, standard AC, electrically adjustable ORVMs, central locking, 12V electric socket and ABS with EBD. The interior colour scheme is black with silver inserts while there is also a special design and orange inserts for the upholstery.
Powering this Celerio X is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 67bhp/90Nm. It can be had with a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. The Celerio X is also 100mm longer and higher than the standard car.
There is a growing demand for SUV styled vehicles and with the Renault Kwid achieving decent success, it was only a matter of time before the market leader, Maruti Suzuki, stepped into the game. We expect that the Celerio X will be priced Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 more than the standard car, variant for variant. Â
