Maruti Suzuki has commenced the production of the Ciaz and the car is expected to be launched next month. The pre-launch bookings of the vehicle might start soon for both petrol and diesel variants.
The Ciaz will be longer than the new Honda City and Hyundai Verna with an expected length of 4,545 mm. The sedan is expected to offer a better rear seat experience than its predecessor- the SX4. The top-end variants of the Ciaz might feature projector headlamps, engine starter button, multi-function steering wheel, AC with climate control, rear AC vents, 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, ABS, EBD and dual airbags.
The petrol variant of the Ciaz might be powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series four-cylinder engine producing 93.6bhp of power and 130Nm of torque, while the oil-burner may get the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet engine that churns out 88.73bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The diesel mill might come mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the petrol model might be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT transmission.
Maruti Suzuki might price the Ciaz in the price range of Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh. While the new Honda City and Verna will be two of its biggest rivals, the Ciaz will also go up against the VW Vento, Skoda Rapid and facelifted Fiat Linea.
