The Maruti Suzuki Baleno now has a six-month waiting period. The company currently has 70,000 bookings for the hatchback and this is believed to have come only on the back of demand from the domestic market.
Its Indian facilities are the only place where the Baleno is being produced for the global market and it is from here that the car will be exported to over 100 European markets over the course of the next year. The Baleno will also be the first model that will be exported from India to Japan. In terms of numbers, the Baleno has overtaken even its closest rival, the Hyundai Elite i20 by a marginal amount but this is expected to increase over the next few months.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno was launched for the Indian market on October 26, 2015, for a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available with both petrol and diesel engines. Across both models, a five-speed manual is standard while the former also gets the option of a CVT automatic.
