- Baleno Hybrid featured a 48V strong hybrid powertrain
- The hybrid variant could return a much higher fuel economy than the current model
Images shared on the web reveal a Hybrid version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno that was spotted in India. The model was said to be on test by component brand Bosch for compatibility and running range trials with numerous battery options.
As seen in the image, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno test-mule features ‘sHEV 48V’ and ‘e-drive’ stickers. The former suggests that the model is running on a 48 volt ‘Strong Hybrid’ powertrain while the latter hints that the model could come with a full electric mode that would have a limited range.
Maruti Suzuki currently offers a mild hybrid system known as Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) with a few products such as the Ciaz, Baleno and Ertiga (petrol variants only). It is also likely that the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Hybrid will return a much higher fuel efficiency when compared to the current model.
