Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback, the Baleno, has emerged as the second bestselling car in India in July. Coincidentally, the Baleno is also the second bestselling product for the manufacturer in the country for the same month. Last month, Maruti Suzuki sold 19,153 units of Baleno in the country, thereby witnessing a massive growth of 110 per cent. The top position continues to be held by Maruti Alto which sold 26,009 units, thereby witnessing a growth of 31.1 per cent.
Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki has also expanded its market share to 52.14 per cent in last one year. The second place is held by Hyundai with 14.63 per cent market share, followed by Mahindra with 6.23 per cent. Maruti Suzuki Baleno is available in petrol as well diesel engine options. The petrol version gets a 1.2-litre engine that generates 83bhp of power, while the diesel version gets a 1.3-litre engine that generates 74bhp of power. Both the variants are available with five-speed manual, while CVT option is limited to the petrol variant.
Among the top 10 cars, seven of them are Maruti Suzuki cars, while the other three are from Hyundai. Overall, the compact segment has witnessed a 25 per cent growth with total sales of 63,116 units in July 2017 as compared to 50,362 units in July 2016. The Baleno’s growth can also be attributed to its increase in production figures that has resulted in a reduced waiting period.
