- More than six lakh Balenos on the road
- Fastest car in segment to reach this milestone
- Commands more than 27 per cent share in A2+ segment
Maruti Suzuki has announced that the Baleno has reached the six lakh sales milestone. It achieved this landmark success in a record period of 44 months, making it the fastest vehicle in its segment to do so.
The Baleno also achieved a growth of 11.5 per cent in 2018-19, when many cars manufacturers witnessed sluggish sales. This hatchback was launched in India in October 2015, and since then it has been the best-seller in its class. In fact, the carmaker says that the Baleno has over 27 per cent market share in this A2+ segment, which includes the Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. It's also the country’s first BSVI compliant premium hatchback.
This sales achievement doesn't come as a surprise as the Baleno has always been in huge demand. In fact, this was the first ever India-made Maruti Suzuki to be exported to its parent company Suzuki's home market, Japan. Now, the other export markets include - Australia, East Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Presently, the latest iteration of the Maruti Baleno was refreshed this year and is available in three engine options - 1.2-litre VVT petrol, 1.3-litre DDiS diesel and an all-new 1.2-litre Dual Jet, Dual VVT smart hybrid petrol. It's retailed through over 360 Maruti Suzuki NEXA outlets across 200 cities in our country.
