The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has been spotted sans camouflage at what appears to be the Indo-Japanese automaker’s storage yard. It is the first major upgrade for the hatchback since it was launched in 2010 and appears to be a comprehensive one involving external, internal and mechanical changes.
External changes on the facelifted Alto K10 include a revised fascia, revised rear-end and what appears to be a more prominent shoulder line on the sides. The frontal changes include new headlamps, grille and bumper. The rear gets modifications in the form of a new tail lamp cluster.
Internal changes which are visible from the spy shots include, dual tone dashboard, chrome inserts for the AC vents, steering wheel from the Swift hatchback and maybe a 1-DIN music system on the higher spec variants.
One of the most major upgrades to the Alto K10 is that it will be offered with an AMT in the LXi and VXi variants. The engine will be the 998cc K10B engine from the Celerio that produces 67bhp/90Nm of torque. In standard form it is mated to a five-speed MT.
It is expected to be priced Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 more than the outgoing model. The facelifted Alto K10 competes with the more expensive variants of the Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano twist and a soon-to-be launched 1.0-litre Nano.
