The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has been spied at the company's facility in Gurgaon. The pictures show the changes to the front and rear of the vehicle and also hint that the car might be equipped with automated manual transmission (AMT).
The fascia of the upcoming Alto K10 has been revised and now gets a chrome grille, sweptback headlamps and redesigned front bumper. While the side profile of the vehicle looks similar to the current model of the Alto 800, the changes at the back of the car include new tail lamps and a redesigned registration plate area.
There are no pictures of the interiors yet to confirm if there are any changes or new features introduced in the cabin. However, the company might equip the car with the same features that the present Alto gets. Apart from these standard features, the AMT gearbox from the Celerio might be introduced making this car the most affordable automatic car to be sold in the Indian market. One picture reveals that the car will be offered in the CNG variant and we can expect an LPG variant as well.
Maruti Suzuki might limit the changes to the exteriors and not make any changes to the mechanicals. This Alto K10 facelift will be powered by the same three-cylinder 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 68bhp of power and 90Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the top-end model may feature the AMT gearbox with specs similar to that of the Celerio.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 was launched in India in 2010 and has not received any major revisions till date. This facelift will bring in a lot of changes setting it apart from the current generation car. The facelifted Alto K10 will be slotted below the Celerio and WagonR in the company's line-up. It might demand a premium over the current Alto with the addition of few features and AMT gearbox. The revamped car will go head to head against the Hyundai Eon, Datsun Go and Chevrolet Spark in the A-segment of hatchbacks in our country.
