To cash-in on the festive season, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Alto 800 Utsav Edition in the country. The new Utsav Edition model is based on the VXi (O) variant of the Alto 800. Changes are limited to cosmetic detailing, while mechanically it continues to be powered by the existing petrol engine. On the pricing aspect, the Utsav Edition is priced at Rs 3.94 lakhs, which is Rs 20,000 more than the regular VXi (O) which is priced at Rs 3.74 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
To distinguish it from a regular version, the Alto 800 Utsav Edition gets body decals on the sides, ORVM cover garnish, door seal guard and reverse parking sensors. The vehicle also gets chrome strips below the tail lamps, bumpers and lower lip of the hood. The interior gets all-black upholstery with red strip. Maruti Suzuki dealers in the country are also offering additional discounts of up to Rs 25,000 along with additional exchange bonus to boost sales during the festive season.
Mechanically, the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is powered by a 0.8-litre petrol engine that generates 48bhp of power at 6000rpm and 69Nm of torque at 3500rpm. The modest engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The entry-level vehicle is also available in a CNG option which generates 40bhp of power. The Alto 800 from Maruti Suzuki competes against the likes of the Renault Kwid and Hyundai Eon in India.
