Maruti Suzuki will launch the eagerly awaited Alto 800 tomorrow (Oct 16), in New Delhi. The new vehicle that is expected replace the M800 and the 800cc Alto has already received over 6,500 pre-launch bookings.
Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Alto 800 and you can find the details here.
The Alto 800 is based on the same platform as the current generation Alto and shares many components with it. However, the hatchback has got all new body panels and a revised design to give it a more modern appeal. Maruti has revised the interiors by improving the quality of plastics and picking up pieces like the steering wheel, AC controls and gauges from its other models. It has also refreshed the fabric trim on the seats.
Underneath the hood, The Alto 800 will use the same three cylinder 796cc engine which displaces 48bhp and 69Nm of torque, a marginal improvement over the Alto. However, the now BS-IV compliant engine has a new intake, new pistons, a lighter crankshaft and a higher compression ratio.
We expect the Alto 800 to be priced below Rs Two lakh putting it in competition with the Tata Nano and the Hyundai EON. Also we expect a CNG version to be offered at the time of the launch. We took the new Alto 800 for a quick spin and here is our first drive report.
