Maruti Suzuki has recalled 19,780 units of the Alto 800 and 13,318 units of the Alto K10 manufactured between December 8, 2014 and February 5, 2015 to inspect and replace the right-hand door latch assembly.
The company has issued a statement saying its dealers in the domestic market will contact owners of all the 33,098 affected vehicles.
The dealer workshop technicians will inspect the condition and carry out the necessary replacement, free of cost. It adds that the problem was noticed on the basis of internal quality checks undertaken by the company. Accordingly, proactive action has been initiated in the interest of customers. The company has said that there will be no cause for concern if the right-hand side doors are fully latched. However, if the door is half-latched then the door may open if pressure is applied from inside.
Users of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Alto K10 who have purchased their cars on or after December 8, 2014 in the domestic market can check the company’s website www.marutisuzuki.com to ascertain if their particular vehicle is included in the recall.
