The country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has set a new target. It is aiming to sell two million units by 2020.
The company is quite bullish about this target and plans to achieve it with the presence of around 25 models. Currently, Maruti Suzuki is in the process of setting up a new chain of dealerships under the name Nexa that will sell company’s upcoming cars like the S-cross and the YRA hatchback.
If everything goes as per plan, there will be around 100 Nexa showrooms in 30 cities by the end of the current financial year. The Gurgaon-based manufacturer has already hired 700 people from various sectors like hospitality and also some people from luxury car brands. With this new strategy in place, the company will target young consumers.
"We have created a customer base of 1.5 crore in the three decades of our operations. Our customer profile is changing today and we not only need to offer new premium products so that they stay with us when they look to upgrade to bigger cars but also a different buying experience," said RS Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki India.
