Maruti Suzuki has reached a significant milestone by exporting its 3-millionth vehicle. The landmark vehicle was part of a recent shipment from Gujarat's Pipavav port, comprising various models like Celerio, Fronx, S-Presso, Jimny, Baleno, Ciaz, and Dzire.
The brand’s export journey commenced in 1986 with the first consignment of 500 cars to ported to Hungary in 1987. The company achieved its first 1-millionth export milestone in FY 2012-13 and the second millionth in FY 2020-21. The most recent million-unit milestone was achieved in just under four years, marking the fastest million-unit increase for the brand.
Speaking on the export milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The three million cumulative exports milestone reflects India’s automobile manufacturing excellence and is a shining example of Brand India on the global stage. We thank the Government of India for instituting encouraging policies and enabling trade agreements with some markets augmenting export growth.”
