Cars rolled out from the Maruti Suzuki’s production line are known to be reliable, fuel efficient and come with assurance of having the widest service network in the country. The country’s largest carmaker will be introducing three models in the coming months, namely – the Baleno RS, MarutiIgnis and the Swift AMT.
The Swift hatchback from Maruti Suzuki has created a strong, positive impression for itself owing to its presence in the country for over a decade. The fairly powerful hatchback has always been offered with a five speed manual transmission option in petrol and diesel guise. However, owing to the growing demand for cars with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology, the company might soon introduce the AMT option in the Swift as well. This will however be restricted only to the diesel variant which is expected to get the 4-speed automated manual transmission sourced fromMagnetiMarelli. The hatchback will continue to be powered by the existing 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine which puts out 74bhp of power and 190Nm of maximum torque. The AMT option in the Swift is likely to be launched during the festive season this year.It may be priced between Rs 6 – 7.5 lakh and will compete against the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Honda Brio in India.
The recently launched Baleno hatchback is a premium offering from the Indian automaker which is exclusively sold via the Nexa outlets. This time around the company will be launching the more powerful Baleno RS model during the festive season. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre BoosterJet direct injection turbo petrol engine which might generate about 112bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. The powerful trim will only be offered in the top-spec Alpha trim and might be priced between Rs 8 - 10 lakh. Post launch it will compete against the likes of AbarthPunto and the Volkswagen Polo GT.
Another Nexa product, the upcoming MarutiIgnis will be sold via the company’s premium dealership outlet in the country. Owing to growing popularity of cars with AMT option, the upcoming Ignis from Maruti Suzuki will also get an AMT option at launch. The vehicle will be launched early in 2017 and will be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine option. As for safety, the new vehicle will get driver and passenger airbags, and ABS with EBD as standard. The five seat vehicle is expected to be priced between Rs 5 lakh – 7 lakh and compete against the Mahindra KUV100 in India.
