The facelifted Ritz which might be launched next month is likely to join the A-star as the second vehicle in Maruti’s hatchback range to have an automatic gearbox. To keep the costs low, the four speed unit is likely to be the same one that is used in the A-star - although we think it would make an equal amount of sense to put in the same driveline that is being sold in the Dzire. After all, the weights are similar and the engines identical.
The facelifted Ritz, which is already being exported to Europe as the Suzuki Splash, will come with same fuel efficient 1.2 litre petrol (with variable valve timing) and 1.3 litre diesel engine that powers the new Swift. The Ritz which was due for a facelift has been popular with the urban crowd due to its small external size and tallboy design that frees up a lot more internal space than one would ordinarily expect for the size of car.
