Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce a CNG version of its yet-to-be-launched small car the Alto 800. According to pictures posted by the motoring afficandos at Team BHP, the tank is in the boot and there is a sticker on the rear glass signifying the fuel powering the vehicle.
Given the recent hike in diesel prices and the high cost of petrol, it’s likely that Indo-Japanese small car major will introduce this variant during the launch itself to ensure the car achieves good sales figures. This model, when introduced, will join Maruti’s CNG powered vehicle range. According to certain sources the car is expected to cost Rs 30,000 more than the petrol powered model, placing it between rivals the Hyundai Eon and the Tata Nano. The source also added that the car might offer a fuel efficiency of around 20kmpl.
