The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki, is expected to offer the Ignis with an AMT system at launch. The feature will evoke positive response as reports indicate the growing demand for AMT cars in India. The new model will be sold via Nexa outlets in India. Earlier reports indicated that the Ignis will be launched before the end of this year, however, Maruti has now confirmed that the vehicle will be launched before the end of this fiscal year.
The new model will get a Micro SUV stance and under the hood, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ignis will get petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol will get a 1.2-litre engine, while the diesel will be powered by a 1.3-litre engine. As the car will be sold via Nexa dealerships, in terms for safety we can expect to see the new Maruti Ignis being offered with driver and passenger airbags, and ABS with EBD as standard. The upcoming model will compete against the likes Mahindra KUV100.
Maruti Suzuki had showcased the five-seat Ignis at the 2016 Auto Expo. The automaker boasts that the upcoming car will get a lighter frame and will be strongly built for uncompromised safety. The pricing aspect is unknown for now, but we believe it should be priced between Rs 5 – 7 lakh. More details about the vehicle will be known in the coming months.
