Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has hiked the prices of all its models except the Vitara, to counter rising input costs. This price hike came into effect on May 17, and will range from Rs 1000 - 18000, depending on the model and variant.
The cars and the increase in their ex-showroom prices are: Maruti 800 (Rs 1500), Alto (Rs 1500), Zen Estilo (Rs 1000), Omni and WagonR (Rs 2000), WagonR Duo (Rs 1000), Swift petrol (Rs 9000), Swift diesel (Rs 15000), SX4 (Rs 9000), Versa(Rs 8000), and the Dzirehas the largest price hike with Rs 18000 on both the petrol and diesel models. However, the Dzire’s price hike has been attributed to the termination of the introductory price offer that Maruti was using to lure customers, and not the pressure of increasing input costs.
Now that Ford and Maruti has taken the plunge, the other manufacturers will certainly follow suit in a short while. Brace yourself!
