- Launched in 2010 to replace the Maruti Omni
- Available for private and commercial buyers
The Maruti Eeco's standard petrol variants outsell the CNG variant by 57 percent to 43 percent of overall sales. The automaker revealed this on the 15th anniversary of the vehicle's launch in India.
Brought in as a replacement for the legendary Omni it is Maruti’s people carrier available in both private and commercial guise. Unsurprisingly, the petrol version rakes in higher demand due to the cargo capacity/seating capacity the Eeeco offers, something that would be blocked off to a large extent when you bring a CNG tank into the equation. The Eeco is offered with the automaker’s 1.2-litre petrol producing 80bhp/104Nm and is only offered with a five-speed MT. The CNG model produces 71bhp/95Nm.
Celebrating the milestone, Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, 'Our Eeco has been a pillar of strength for our customers across the nation. From providing Joy of Mobility to powering the livelihoods of entrepreneurs, and businesses, the Eeco has earned its place as a trusted companion. Regarded as India’s most-loved van, it has proven its mettle not only in urban markets but also in rural regions, which contribute a remarkable 63% to its overall sales. We sincerely thank our customers for their trust in a brand that is India’s pride and partner in progress.”
