Maruti Suzuki’s Celerio will be officially launched at the Auto Expo 2014, this has been reported everywhere, then what’s the news? Fresh images of the car’s interiors have been brought to light by the same source that got us the exterior pictures.
The car spotted seems to be a top-end ZXI variant of the Celerio. The interiors have a black and beige interior scheme with silver inserts. The steering wheel seems to be borrowed from the Swift, with a large round speedometer at the centre, a tachometer at the left and a digital display dial at the right. A large two-din music system dominates the centre console with rotary dials for the AC under it.
The most interesting part is the gear lever slot, we believe that the Celerio might get a conventional H-gate shifter without the clutch. Maruti seems to have offered an automatic transmission with a tiptronic style manual shifting. The right side of the knob houses the regular AT modes with N and D evident, the other two functions are reverse and parking. The left side gets the manual shifter with the lever coming straight to ‘M’ for manual when slotted left from the D mode with ‘-‘ pointing north and ‘+’ pointing south. This is like push the knob down to go up the gears and push it up to go down.
The rear seats are a little high set and seem to be short on width as is evident from the pictures, however the knee-room seems to be sufficient and the interiors look airy.
