The diesel variant of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is due for a launch and the much-awaited vehicle is expected to be the most-fuel efficient car when it goes on sale. There are speculations that the company is planning to sell one lakh units of this model powered by this new diesel mill.
The engine we are talking about here is a 793cc twin-cylinder powerplant, which might produce 58bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Suzuki has developed this motor after several years of research and development. Maruti Suzuki will not only use this mill for the Celerio but for their other commercial vehicles as well.
The Celerio that was launched at the start of last year has tasted quite a fair bit of success in our country. The hatchback is available only as a petrol variant and will soon will employ the newly developed diesel mill from Suzuki. When this diesel engine will power the Celerio, it is expected to return a fuel economy of about 30kmpl making it the most fuel efficient car. The new diesel model of the small car is expected to be low on maintenance and high on fuel economy.
Maruti Suzuki is in its final stage of launching this diesel Celerio and might launch it within a few months. The car has already entered production and we have seen images of many diesel Celerios ready for dispatch at the company's stockyard. They will soon be dispatched to dealers and will be available for sale as soon as the manufacturer launches the car officially.
