- Five lakh units sold since October 2015
- Adds up to about 27 per cent market share in the A2+ segment
- Among top-selling cars in the Indian market
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has now clocked a five lakh sales milestone since its launch. The carmaker has achieved this feat in just 38 months.
This premium hatchback has been amongst the top-selling cars in India since 2016 and is the leader of its segment. It still commands a good demand despite a lack of any updates or additional features, and has a market share of over 27 per cent in the A2+ segment. It has shown a 20.6 per cent growth in first half of 2018-19, as against the increase in sales by 20.4 per cent in the April-October period this year.
Maruti Suzuki launched the Baleno in October 2015 through their premium sales outlets - Nexa. The hatchback is a symbol of the Make-in-India mission and is manufactured at the carmaker's Sanand facility in Rajasthan. Not only is it the first car to be exported from India to Japan, the carmaker's domestic market, but it's sold in many global markets too including Europe, Australia, East Asia and Latin America.
