Maruti Suzuki has bagged 6000 pre-launch booking orders for the eagerly awaited Alto 800. Bookings for the small car have opened on October 1 after Maruti launched a web page (www.marutisuzukialto800.com/). On the site, those interested can complete all the details and pre-book the car. CarWale has contacted Maruti dealers and found that a booking for the Alto 800 can be confirmed by paying amount of Rs 5000 at the dealership. Deliveries are expected to start during the Diwali holidays.
Speaking on the bookings, Mayank Pareek, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) chief operating officer (marketing and sales) said, “Despite the price remaining unknown to customers, who have not seen the car fully, we have received 6,500 bookings of the new Alto. At this rate, we are confident that it will cross 10,000 when we launch the car on October 16."
The Alto 800 will be powered by a new 796cc engine which is likely to give an ARAI-certified 22kmpl, a feature the company hopes to bank on due to the high price of petrol. The car will replace the existing base model Alto and will have a sub-Rs 2 lakh price allowing it to compete with the Tata Nano and the Hyundai Eon. It is also expected to have a CNG option at the time of its launch. To know more details about the Alto 800 visit our upcoming cars section.
