India’s leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Alto K10 tomorrow. The new Alto K10 gets styling as well as mechanical updates in its new avatar especially with the addition of an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
The Alto K10 gets new bigger headlamps, a new two-piece grille with a chrome strip at the upper part and a big Suzuki logo. The fog lamps are integrated at the lower half of the new bumper. At the rear, the tail light, bumper and the chrome strip at the bottom of the boot is new.
The engine bay of the car is now shorter, the width and height of the car has increased by 1.5cm, all this should contribute to greater space inside the cabin. It also gets a new dashboard design, steering wheel, instrument cluster and new upholstery.
The car uses the same 1.0-litre K10 engine as before and the power and torque figures are the same. But, Maruti has used improved combustion techniques and an ECM remap to make the car more efficient, which at 24.07kmpl (ARAI) has the best in class figure. The addition of an AMT gearbox makes the deal sweeter.
Maruti has been the master of the pricing game and we expect them to price it very competitively. There are chances that the car might be priced on-par with the outgoing model. It will compete with the likes of the Datsun GO and the Hyundai Eon.
