Maruti Suzuki has launched the LPG variant of its 800 which will be priced at around Rs 2.05 lakh for the standard version and around Rs 2.25 lakh for the air-conditioned variant. The rising fuel prices and also the success of the Omni and Wagon R LPG variants make this a very good decision. The dual fuel versions have proven to be environmentally friendly and easy on the pocket as well.
The whole package was completely designed in house. The Maruti 800 Duo works on a gas mixer system based on Integrated Gas Technology and Gas Mixer Technology which takes care of the emission levels without compromising too much on performance, resulting in a 10% lower CO2 emission than the petrol offering. The Duo delivers a power of 35bhp at 5000rpm and torque of 5.7kgm at 2500rpm. This model will be manufactured at the Gurgaon plant and will undergo stringent quality tests at the assembly line and after too. The LPG kit in the Maruti 800 Duo is approved by Department of Explosives, tested, and certified by Automotive Research Association of India. The Duo will strengthen and broaden Maruti’s presence in the alternate fuel cars.
