It’s always exciting when there is a special or limited edition of a popular selling car and it seems the Malaysia specific (Maruti) Suzuki Swift RR edition will not disappoint. A report from Paultan suggests that the car is based on the locally named GL variant and will be limited to 200 units only. It gets cosmetic changes on the outside but mechanically remains the same as the standard car.
The Swift RR gets a four-piece body kit which includes a rear spoiler, black decals running from the boot to the rear hatch. Changes to the sides and rear include black Swift stickers, matte black alloy wheels and an RR emblem at the back. The interior remains the same as the GL (equivalent of India spec ZXi) but now gets a Blaupunkt touchscreen infotainment system and a reversing camera.
Mechanically the Swift RR will be powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 95bhp and 130Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox. This is the same engine that powers the Ertiga MPV in India.
We in India have got three special editions of the Swift over the course of the last one year mostly in a bid to boost the sales of the popular hatchback. It must be noted that our special editions are a little less extreme and usually concentrate on the interiors.
