Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. have announced their sales figures for March 2015. Cumulatively, the company sold 36,727 vehicles last month when it had sold 36,288 units in the same month previous year.
Domestic sales include 18,314 passenger cars and 11,744 commercial vehicles showing one per cent increase each. The company had sold 18,148 units of passenger cars and 11,667 commercial vehicles in April 2014. The overall domestic sales stood at 34,467 units in the last month in comparison to 34,107 units sold in the same month in 2014.
Mahindra managed to sell 2,260 vehicles overseas in April 2015 as against 2,181 cars exported in the corresponding month last year. This shows a four per cent growth in exports.
Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, "We are happy to have achieved an overall growth during April 2015. The auto industry is hopeful of a better financial year as we see positive sentiments on the back of various policy and project announcements leading to higher levels of economic activity. At Mahindra we expect to perform better given the positive sentiments and the upcoming launches of our new products."
Though these figures show just one per cent increase in sales, this development is a good change from the previous sales numbers. In fact, the increase in the number of Mahindra vehicles sold in the country is a good respite for the manufacturer as the company saw the sales dipping for quite some months.
Despite the low sales numbers, Mahindra was making continuous efforts to keep their customer base satisfied. Expansion of their network of dealerships and workshops in urban as well as rural areas in the country was and has been their plan. With this new strategy and introduction of the new Mahindra Scorpio, sales numbers have increased. They are further expected to boost with the introduction of the Xylo facelift, XUV 500 facelift, which will be launched this year followed by the compact SUV S101 and new Bolero.
